Sydney is my home town - I was born and raised here and hope, therefore, to be able to share some good local knowledge with you about this great city. Sydney is a truly beautiful city, one that I don’t think I really appreciated enough until I started travelling more and growing more and more appreciative for the incredible resources and lifestyle that we have here. If you haven’t been to Sydney on your travels yet, I cannot recommend it highly enough - it is gorgeous here especially in the Spring and Summer months.
These guides have been written with a dual purpose. Firstly, many of them have been written to share a local’s knowledge of her beloved city with you and hopefully give you all the tips you need to have a great visit here yourself. Secondly, I feel like when you live somewhere, or even when you visit somewhere often, there are so many things that you don’t do because they are ‘touristy’ or you simply don’t have the time, or you have just never done it before. So, my second reason for writing about Sydney in such detail is to push myself. As I said in my ‘about me’ section of the website, this was a major goal for me in starting this blog, and so, I am really hoping to get out and about my own city in an effort to report back to you.
I am positive that doing this will only make me love Sydney more...I hope it makes you love SYD too and makes you want to come here!
New South Wales is my home state and whilst I have always enjoyed the opportunity to explore more than just Sydney when the opportunity presented itself, the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw the closure of our state borders, definitely gave me more of a reason to really get out and see my state.
What I learnt is that I am surrounded by a lot of GREAT places and I have really loved getting to see different aspects of the state - from coast to country.
It's a large state and I have A LOT more to see! But here are some of the great places in NSW/nearby to Sydney for those looking for either a day trip from Sydney, a weekend away, or ideas for an extended road trip.
WINE TIME IN THE HUNTER VALLEY
One of my favourite regions that I have visited thus far in NSW, The Hunter Valley is a perfect Sydney getaway! Here are my tips on where to stay, what to do, where to eat and importantly, which wineries to visit
